High-quality care improves the life chances of all children

At K & G Care we believe that the benefits of receiving quality care continue into adulthood, and research shows that it gives children and young people the best start in life by improving their emotional and social development and can have a positive impact on educational attainment and on achieving their full potential in life.

About Us

Learn all about us...

Image

K & G Care Ltd was created by qualified professionals who have acquired skills and qualifications and have in depth understanding of children in care. We have worked with children in care for over 20 years, and this first-hand experience has given us a concrete knowledge base to work with children within the care system.

Our core values are embedded in the belief that it takes a community and a family environment to support and raise children and young people into adulthood. Our aim is to create a home from home living experience and whilst we know that nothing can replace home, we strive to create a homely environment that provides that nurture and warmth all children and young people need.

Our Homes..

Image

Our homes are just that 'a home'. It is not a working environment. You cannot tell that the home is any different from the homes down the same street within the community.

Image

Directors - Gulshin and Kellie both come from a social work background working in the sector for nearly 20 years. During our time working with looked after children we felt that we wanted to offer a home for children and young people that gave them the best opportunities in life whilst they are away from their families. We recognise that no child wants to be away from their family, but at times due to different circumstances this is not possible. However, we wanted them to still feel that they live in a homely environment where they can relax and feel supported by a team who act and feel like one big family.

How it began..

We set up our first children's home at Apple Tree House in 2017 to care for children with emotional needs and challenging behaviours. We offer a service that will ensure that each child/young person in our care achieves their full potential in life and they build on their independent living skills ready for adulthood. We aim to provide individual care packages in a therapeutic environment and have highly dedicated and experienced staff members to empower children and young people to reach adulthood, choose their path in life, build on their self-esteem and confidence and realise that they can achieve. In mid 2024 we were thrilled to open our second home, Cherry Tree House and we're excited to welcome more young adults into our family.

Our Facilities

A little more about our facilities...

Outdoor Activities

Our homes have large gardens where we have plenty of activities going on, such as a trampoline, football goals, We have a chicken coup, and a vegetable patch where children can learn to care for animals and grow their favourite fruit and vegetables. We are in a semi rural environment and close to places such as Sherwood forest a wide range of outdoor activities. We are also close to several towns and cities such as Lincoln and Nottingham.

Chillout Zone

In our chill out zone young people have access to a wide screen TV, a laptop, computer and console games. They can chill and watch a film, play on the XBOX or play a game of cards or a board game with staff. This zone also has areas for young people to focus on their hobbies and other activities that they are interested in, with plenty of arts and crafts available.

Welcome to Koda

They say that dogs are the truest of friends, and we all know how important it is to have one of those!! So please welcome our newest member of the K & G Care family, and say Hello to Koda the support dog that will be visiting Apple Tree House on a regular basis. Thanks to Apple Tree's manager, Amy who owns Koda and kindly brings her in for the young people to spend some time with her and take her for some nice long walks. Although I am not sure how much work Amy expects to get done with Koda around as we are all busy queuing up to give her a cuddle.
